Applegate Valley Region |
South of Grants Pass and east of Bear Creek Valley is the historic Applegate Valley, Oregon's latest wine region. Stretching along the path of the Applegate River, the valley's moderate mix of climates is generally drier and warmer than the Illinois Valley to the west, although not as warm and dry as Bear Creek Valley to the east.
The vineyards in this region are planted with Bordelaise varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Chardonnay and Zinfandel.
