Alsea Bay Bridge Interpretive Center

Alsea Bay Bridge Interpretive Center Waldport, Oregon (Parks) image

The Historic Alsea Bay Bridge Interpretive Center is located at the south end of the Alsea Bay Bridge in Waldport. Displays tell the story of the history of transportaiton along the Oregon Coast from the year 1800 to the present.

The exhibits focus on the historic Alsea Bay Bridge which was completed in 1936. When it reached the end of its useful lifespan, it was replaced with the new Alsea Bay Bridge, which opened in 1991.

Two of the original pylons, spires, and some railing from the historic bridge have been incorporated into the Alsea Bay Bridge North Wayside at the end of the new bridge.

The interpretive center is operated by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department and the Waldport Chamber of Commerce. Daily bridge tours are held during the summer months, as well as clamming and crabbing demonstrations throughout the year.
