Trumansburg New York |
Trumansburg is located in Tompkins County between Ithaca and Ovid on Hwy 96 near Cayuga Lake in the Western Region of the state.
Named after founder Abner Treman, whose surname was variously spelled as Truman, Treman, Tremain and Trimmins. Trumansburg was once known as Shin Hollow because early residents bumped their shins on tree stumps as they made their way home from the tavern.
