Syracuse Hancock International Airport

In1970, the International Civil Airport Organization awarded international airport status to Hancock Airport. With this designation, products manufactured locally could be shipped directly overseas and Syracuse would become a port of entry for foreign travelers. With this new status also came a new name-Syracuse Hancock International Airport. By this time, over two million people a year were using the Airport.

American Airlines was the first to initiate service in 1949 and has maintained continuous service at the Airport since that time. In addition to American Airlines, scheduled passenger service is also provided by Air Georgian (an Air Canada codeshare partner),Continental Express, Commutair, Delta Air Lines, Delta Connection (Comair), JetBlue Airways, Northwest Airlines, United Airlines, United Express, US Airways, and USAirways Express. Current freight carriers include Airborne Freight, DHL Worldwide, Federal Express, and United Parcel Service.
