Syosset New York |
Syosset is located in Nassau County in the Southern Region of the state. Its name possibly comes from the Indian term for "place in the pines". Syosset was a farming community until World War II when wealthy New Yorkers began building estates here after the railroad reached Syosset in 1854. When Theodore Roosevelt wanted to escape notice on trips to Sagamore Hill, he would take the train to Syosset and ride his horse home. Accommodations in Syosset include Fairfield Inn By Marriott.
