Seneca Falls is located in Seneca County 19 miles west of Auburn between Montezuma and Five Points along Interstate 90 on the banks of the Seneca River near Cayuga Lake State Park in the Western Region of the state. Seneca Falls is known as the birthplace of the women's rights movement. Notable former residents include Amelia Bloomer, who popularized the undergarments that bore her name, and Elizabeth Cady Staton, organizer of the first Women's Rights Convention and an early feminist leader. The nation's first women's rights convention was held in Seneca Falls in 1848.
