Petrified Sea Gardens

The Petrified Sea Gardens is a national natural and historic landmark. It is a Stromatolite ocean reef that contains almost an acre of exposed fossils approximately 500-million-years old. The trail also passes a series of glacial erratics - standing stones - from the last ice age. Other points of interest are a labyrinth, a Native American Medicine Wheel, a sundial garden, fossil rock-gardens, and a 300-year-old white pine tree, the Iroquois Pine. A rock, fossil, and mineral display, and a rock-shop specializing in Herkimer diamonds are attached.
