Queens New York

Queens is one of the five boroughs of New York City and also a county of New York State. In terms of area, it is the largest borough, covering 127 square miles, adjacent to Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx.

The first settlement in the area took place when Dutch settlers arrived in 1635. It was incorporated into New York City in 1898.

Queens, population over two million, is a transportation, distribution, and manufacturing center. Queens also consists of many residential neighborhoods, among the best known of which are Kew Gardens, Forest Hills, and Flushing.

Both LaGuardia International Airport and John F Kennedy International Airport are located within Queens.

Attractions include restaurants, theatres, theatre groups and other cultural venues such as American Museum of the Moving Image, featuring artifacts of TV and movie history, and the Louis Armstrong House and Archives, a collection of Satchmo memorabilia. Shea Stadium is here as well as Queens Botanical Gardens and Aquaduct Race Track. The borough is home to Queens College.
