The landscape painter, Frederic Edwin Church of the Hudson Valley School began construction in 1870 and the family moved into the second floor in late 1872. The first-floor rooms required several more years to design and decorate. In the Victorian style with Persian themes, the house dominates a panorama of the Hudson Valley and Catskills. A film at the visitor center. Hiking, cross-country skiing, picnicking, tours.
