South Beach Psychiatric Center provides intermediate level inpatient services to persons living in western Brooklyn, southern Staten Island, and Manhattan south of 42nd Street. The center also operates a specialized eight bed inpatient unit for monolingual Chinese persons from Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan who are in need of intermediate care. Acute inpatient care is the responsibility of the following co-providers: Woodhull Medical Center, Coney Island Hospital, Maimonides Medical Center, Sisters of Charity Medical Center, Staten Island University Hospital, Lutheran Medical Center, Long Island College Hospital, Kings County Hospital Center, Beth Israel Medical Center, Cabrini Medical Center, St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center (Manhattan), New York State Psychiatric Institute, Bellevue Hospital Center.
