Mark Twain Study

The Cranes surprised their brother-in-law Samuel Clemens with this study in 1874 placed a 100 yards from the house at Quarry Farm. In this octagonal building Mark Twain wrote major portions of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, Life. In 1952 the study was moved to Elmira College and is now staffed by trained guides daily throughout the summer and by appointment in the off-season. It still contains much of its original furniture.
