Latham is located in Albany County 8 miles north of Albany and just east of Troy along Highway 7 near the confluence of the Mohawk and Hudson rivers. Latham is part of the Albany-Schenectady-Troy, New York metro area in the Central Region of the state.
It was named after William G. Latham, hotel owner.
