John Jay Homestead State Historic Site

John Jay, former Chief Justice, retired here in 1801, after a lifetime of public service. The Homestead contains furnishing and paintings of the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Sixty acres with farm buildings, gardens, lawns and meadows, along with an active events calendar offer varied cultural, historic and recreational opportunities. Restored with period rooms and family memorabilia and portraits by American artists. Landscaped with 19th and 20th century outbuildings. Guided tours.
