Grave of Mark Twain |
The resting place of Samuel Clemens is marked with a twelve-foot high monument, the exact measurement of the Mississippi watermark termed 'mark twain.' The measurement, which became Clemen's nom de plume, was the 2 fathom water depth needed for riverboats to clear the bottom during river runs. Clemens son-in-law, Ossip Gabrilowitsch is interred here also, at the distinguished musician's request, at Clemens feet. Grave markers quote from the author's works.
