Alongside the Erie Canal in Montgomery County is Schoharie Crossing, a 3-mile nature trail with interpretive signage and picnic facilities.
Vestiges of the original Erie Canal locks, as well as structures from two other phases of its construction can be seen as well as Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site on Schoharie Street.
