Bartow Pell Mansion Museum |
This mansion was once part of 9,000 acres owned by Pell that he bartered for in 1654 from the Siwanoy Indians. In 1675 Pell's nephew built the manor. Of all the important homes on Long Island Sound, it is the sole survivor. The restored three-story Carriage House has carriage stable, hay loft, tack room. Also neo-classic stonework with interior Greek Revival details and elliptical staircase. 19th century Empire decor. Period furniture, decorative arts, and paintings.
