Amagansett New York |
Amagansett is located in Suffolk County 17 miles E of Southampton between the Long Island Sound and the Atlantic along Highway 27 near Hither Hills State Park and in the Southern Region of the state. Its name is derived from the Indian term for "place of good water" or "place of good fishing". It has been a fishing village for three centuries it was once a whaling center.
Amagansett is part of the Nassau-Suffolk, New York metro area.
