Alice Austen House

This museum on Staten Island recalls the world of an exceptional woman, photographer Alice Austen. Austens quaint, Victorian cottage-style home, with a magnificent view of New York Harbor, displays prints from the large glass negative collection of her work that depict turn-of-the-century American life. The house is restored to its 1890s elegance and displays photographs taken from the late 1800s through the first half of the 20th century by Alice Austen, who occupied this domicile from 1866-1929.
