Just north of the Plaza you will find San Miguel Mission, the twin-steepled church, built 1819-21, and still in use today. Its predecessor, constructed in the 1620s after an earlier mission was abandoned, was destroyed in the Pueblo Rebellion of 1680. A portion of one wall dates from the 1598 mission; hand-carved ceiling beams highlight the interior. Artifacts are displayed in the adjoining church office. Admission is Free.
