DescriptionThe Tribe's 46,000 acre reservation represents the beauty and majesty of New Mexico's diverse landscape. The Puye Cliff Dwellings show the 12th Century heritage and surroundings from which the present day tribal way of living and beliefs began. The dwellings located in the Puye Cliffs were carved into the jagged volcanic tufa, a rock formed from compressed volcanic ash and cinders, and were eventually expanded to include adobe structures along the slopes and on top of the numerous mesas.<P>
