The Pojoaque Pueblo was abondoned during a small pox epidemic in 1890, and today is inhabited by fewer than 40 descendants of the original tribe. Visitors may tour the museum, cultural center, and tourist information center. Permission is required to tour the rest of the pueblo.

The Nambe is known for pottery made from micaceous clay and also for Nambe Falls that is located east of the pueblo. The recreation area is popular for fishing, hiking, picnicking.
