The Don CeSar Beach Resort & Spa has a magnificent beachfront location. The resort is located on the island of St. Pete Beach, an island right off the coast of St. Petersburg. The Don CeSar Beach Resort and Spa is as rich in luxury and lavish touches as it is in history. Built in 1928 during the Great Gatsby era, the Don was the hot spot for Lou Gehrig, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Al Capone. At 1.2 million dollars, the construction ran 300% over budget. From World War II to 1967, it was used by the military. Thanks to a dedicated preservation group, the Don was saved from the wrecking ball and reopened again in all it's former glory in 1973. Rising from the sugary sands of the Gulf, the 'Pink Palace' represents itself as a romantic landmark.
