Situated on a 1300-acre campus 12 miles southeast of downtown Jacksonville, the University of North Florida is part of the state university system in Florida. It was founded in 1972 and draws the vast majority of its students from within the state. The undergraduate full-time student body is around 5500. Fraternities and sororities are not particularly active. About four out of five applicants are accepted. Popular majors include psychology, elementary education, and health science.
