Red Reef Park

Visitors to Red Reef Park need not bring their diving certification; just a mask and snorkel. These "reefs" are just 10 feet from the shore line, allowing encounters with puffer fish, sea robins, trigger fish and a wide variety of sea snails.

Originally designed to cover outcropping rocks, the "reefs" soon became a habitat for different organisms, perhaps previously displaced by dredging and oceanfront development. Today, these 3-foot-high mixtures of rock, coral and sand are home to hundreds of rainbow-colored, striped and spotted fish, as well as turtles, eels and stingrays.

The beach itself is pristine although a little rocky in places. It gets quite close at high tide, but it has enough room for everyone. For a beautiful view, stand on the boardwalk just above the beach.
