Polk County Historical Museum |
The purpose of the museum is to educate the public in the cultural, economic, political, and social history of Polk County and Central Florida, from the earliest times to the present, in the context of the state and the nation. The scope of the museum collection includes the artifacts of Polk County and Central Florida history and culture from pre-contact to the present. Objects acquired by the museum represent material culture in Polk County and Central Florida. The collection includes documentation of individuals and cultural groups as well as objects that illustrate events and the history of the arts and crafts in Polk County and Central Florida. The exhibits and information offered at the Historical Museum continue to grow and change as new information and artifacts become available.
