Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge

Located 17 miles south of Chiefland on CR 347, this is home to more than 90 species of birds that nest in the refuge's 52,257 acres. The .3 mile River Trail offers visitors a view of the Suwannee River and the surrounding cypress trees and hardwood swamps. Popular hiking area. Refuge open daily, 24-hrs; refuge office open Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4pm. Free to the public.
