Lantana Florida |
Lantana is located in Palm Beach County just south of West Palm Beach between Lake Worth and Boynton Beach, situated along Hwy A1A near Lake Osborne and the Atlantic seacoast. Lantana is part of the West Palm Beach-Boca Raton, Florida metro area.
Lantana was incorporated in 1921 and lands its name from a small wildflower. In the areas beginning, gathering and marketing oysters was the leading industry. The western part of town was also covered with Pineapple fields.
Lantana is the barefoot skiing capital of the world. This community has a beautiful public beach and 7 parks; public tennis courts, boat ramp and a new library. It enjoys a small rural atmosphere, but is conveniently located to a larger city.
The Pope Theater and the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts and the Palm Beach Auditorium, are well known cultural facilities in Lantan.
