Lakeland is located in Polk County east of Tampa between Tampa and Winter Haven along Interstate 4 near Lake Juliana and Lake Hancock. Home of the Florida Southern College campus.
Lakeland is part of the Lakeland-Winter Haven, Florida metro area.
Long known as the "World Citrus Center," Lakeland is no longer surrounded by citrus, but rather the rapid growth of manufacturing, distribution, and white-collar jobs.
