Honeymoon Island State Recreation Area

Visitors to Honeymoon Island will enjoy secluded opportunities for swimming and sunbathing, as well as surf and pass fishing for whiting and tarpon in the warm Gulfstream waters. Picnic pavilions, bathhouses and a park concession are available; the park offers nature trails, bird observation areas and the state's only designated 'pet beach,'- dogs are not generally allowed on Florida's beaches, unless on leash.

Hikers can observe one of the few remaining south Florida virgin slash pine stands along the island's northern loop trail. These large trees serve as important nesting sites for the osprey that make their home here, as well as many other plants and shorebirds. Located north of Dunedin at the west end of State Road 586.
