Highlands Hammock State Park

This 4,896-acre park became one of Florida's four original state parks in 1935; the Civilian Conservation Corps built a camp there as a base for development and the history of the CCC in Florida's state parks is illustrated in an accessible museum. A ranger-led tram tour gives visitors a chance to see wildlife in remote areas of the park; winter & summer schedules are available. Rangers also give guided walks & campfire programs according to seasonal demand. A day-use horseback trail is offered and a paved-loop trail through the hammock is ideal for cyclists; bike rentals are available at the ranger station. A tent and trailer campground are provided & include restrooms with showers, electric and water hook-ups; a remote camping area is also available. Located on Hwy 634, 4 miles west of Sebring.
