Henderson Beach State Recreation Area

This state trust is rich in one of Florida's greatest assets,- picture-perfect sugar-white sand beaches, amounting to more than 6,000 feet of scenic shoreline bordering the Gulf of Mexico's green waters. The area habitat fosters sand pines, scrub oaks, Southern Magnolias, dune rosemary and a variety of wildflowers; wildlife includes protected sea turtles that nest along the beach, and several species of unique shorebirds. Boardwalks are provided to allow park visitors easy access to the beach without damaging the dunes and vegetation.

The 208-acre park offers recreational activities for the entire family, including swimming, surf fishing for pompano and whiting, and picnicking. A picnic pavilion is located nearby, and bathhouses with outside showers are available. Located just east of Destin on Hwy 98.
