Fort Cooper State Park

The 160-acre Lake Holathlikaha lies at the heart of this state park; a frontier fort was built on the site in 1836. The 710-acre park was opened to the public in 1977 and features 10 miles of self-guided trails and primitive tent camping for groups of up to 20 people. Volleyball, horseshoe pits and a playground are available in the main use area. Swimming and fishing are popular here, and the hardwood hammock is an excellent picnic area complete with grills, tables and pavilions. Pavilions, canoes and paddleboats are available for rental. Some facilities and activities in the park are handicapped accessible. Located on SR39, 2 miles south of Inverness.
