Frostproof is located in Polk County south of Orlando between Lake Wales and Sebring along Highway 27 near Lake Reedy and Lake Livingston. Frostproof is part of the Lakeland-Winter Haven, Florida metro area.
Consisting of 2.8 square miles of land, the rural town of Frostproof offers a step back in time, to the quiet, small town atmosphere of bygone days. Frostproof features quiet residential streets fronting on two large lakes, Reedy and Clinch, which frame the town. Citrus is the major industry here, with the largest single employer being the citrus concentrate and packing plant owned by Cargill.
Also near the Frostproof area is the expanse of the U.S. Air Force's Avon Park Gunnery and Bombing Range, which is a popular area for camping and hunting. Fishing is a very popular past-time as well, with the area featuring some of the top bass waters in the United States.
