Founded in 1965, Florida International University is part of the state university system in Florida. With almost 12,000 full-time undergraduates and nearly as many attending part-time, it draws its student body largely from Florida but has representatives over all 50 states and many foreign countries. The 573-acre campus is located 10 miles west of downtown Miami. Admission is very competitive. Popular majors include international business, education, and psychology.
