Collier County Museum |
This museum features a full offering of educational and cultural activities for all ages and interests; exhibits and events range from Southwest Florida butterflies and swamp buggies, to native gardening, space exploration, and local archaeology. Permanent exhibits relate Collier County history, and a variety of topics make up a changing schedule of temporary exhibits; educational and children's programs are also sponsored.
In November, the site is host to the two-day 'Old Florida Festival,' where 400 years of frontier history is brought to life by costumed interpreters, historical re-enactments, period vendors, craft workers and folk musicians during the museum's oldest and most renowned cultural event.
Located 2 miles east of downtown Naples at the junction of Hwy 41 and Airport-Pulling Road; picnic facilities are available. The museum is open year-round Monday-Friday, closed on National and county holidays.
