Water-based recreation is the park's main emphasis because of the 181,500 acre park size, 95% is under water. Boating, canoeing, diving, fishing, sailing, snorkeling, swimming, water skiing and camping are the activites of interest. Camping is permitted only on Elliott Key & Boca Chiton Key, which are accessible only by boat.
Located just 21 miles east of Everglades National Park.
