Turlock Lake State Recreational Area |
This state park is open all year and features camping, picnicking, fishing, swimming, boating; water skiing and clean country air, the area offers visitors an opportunity to see the wonderful variety of native plant life that once flourished along the rivers of the San Joaquin Valley. The recreation area features the 3500-surface-acre lake with its 26 miles of shoreline and some 228 acres of foothill country leased from the Turlock Irrigation District in 1950. Picnicking, day-use, and boat launch ramps are offered at the lake. Overnight visitors are welcomed at the 66 site campground located on the shady south bank of the Tuolumne River about 1 mile from the lake.
This area is open all year round. Day use is from 8:00 a.m. to sunset. Summertime activities include Saturday night campfire programs and scheduled Junior Ranger programs for kids 7 to 12 years.
