Stonegate |
The entire winemaking process; growing grapes, harvesting, crushing, fermenting, aging, tasting and observing how wine drinkers react to the wines was all a part of the founding of Stonegate Winery, founded in 1973 by James and Barbara Spaulding.
Purchased in 1996 by the California Wine Company, Stonegate continues the heritage of producing wines of depth from hillside vineyards of the Napa Valley. Production today is about 15,000 cases. Stonegate is open daily from 10:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., excluding New Year's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. The $5.00 tasting fee is applied to on-site purchases. Guests are invited to barrel sample the 2001 vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petite Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. These are the Bordeaux varietals that make up our award winning Cabernet Sauvignon. These tastings are daily by appointment at 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and a $10.00 fee and includes tasting current releases.
