Schramsberg Vineyards |
In 1862, Jacob Schram established Schramsberg as the first winery on the hillsides of the Napa Valley. The 200-acre estate was cited as a California Historical Landmark in 1957 and is on the National Registry of Historic Sites.
Since 1965, the Davies family has dedicated Schramsberg solely to the art of creating premier sparkling wines, using the traditional methode champenoise. Schramsberg makes 6 different sparkling wines from classic French grape varieties: Blanc de Blancs, Blanc de Noirs, Brut Rose, Cremant Demi-Sec, Reserve and J. Schram.
Winery tours and tasting occur 7 days a week. Tours are by appointment only. There is a cost for wine tasting. The tours take you through the caves hand-dug by Chinese laborers at the turn of the century.
