Middletown is located in Lake County and located on Highway 29 out of Calistoga. Situated north of Santa Rosa between St. Helena and Clear Lake along Highway 29. Middletown is near Lake Sonoma and Clear Lake and the Mendocino National Forest. Highway 175 from Middletown is the approach to the western shore of Clear Lake.
Middletown, at the Southern tip of Lake County and 5 miles from Napa County, is nestled into the heart of the old Mexican Land Grant, Callayomi in the Loconoma Valley. Middletown became a town in 1870 Middletown was given its name because it is halfway between Lower Lake to the North and Calistoga to the South. Also the “Road to Lakeport” intersected the road to Lower Lake in the middle of Middletown.
Middletown is the Southern Gateway to Clear Lake, which is California's largest lake and is 25 miles long and several miles wide. There are many public beaches, parks and launch ramps in addition to some big-name resorts, and Native American casinos.
