During the eighties, the term "state hospital" was dropped statewide from all Developmental Centers in order to more accurately reflect the movement away from viewing our clients as "patients" rather than as individuals with special needs and abilities, and to recognize the emphasis on progressive habilitative training being provided to its residents.
LDC is licensed to provide three levels of services: general acute care, nursing care, and intermediate care for the developmentally disabled.
