John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital was founded in 1966 by a group of physicians including Dr. Carreon, who later had one of the hospital's cross streets named in his honor. Originally called Indio Community Hospital, the hospital grew from a 112-bed hospital to the 162-bed John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital of today.
John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, and offers a busy pediatric unit, a family oriented obstetric department, an Arthritis Institute, a 24-hour emergency room and JFK Urgent Care Center, rehabilitation services, diabetes management and patient education opportunities, a number of cardiac services including the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, and a wide variety of additional inpatient and outpatient services.
