|
Kern Medical Center is a busy, 150 bed, county-owned, trauma center and general acute care teaching hospital. It serves a population of approximately 650,000. The Medical Center provides comprehensive inpatient, outpatient and ancillary services, and is the largest provider of health care services and the only hospital with physician residency programs in Kern County. As the only trauma center, the only adult psychiatric evaluation and inpatient care facility, one of only two inpatient pediatric care facilities, and the only major referral hospital for the entire county of Kern, KMC provides an environment rich in pathology and opportunities for learning. The mission of the Medical Center is to provide health care services to all residents, with special outreach to those whose access is limited; to be a primary community health care resource; to operate in a fiscally responsible manner; and to cooperate with other health care providers in the provision of quality health care.
