John Muir Medical Center |
A 321-bed acute care facility that is designated as the only trauma center for Contra Costa County and portions of Solano County. Recognized as one of the region's premier healthcare providers, areas of specialty include high and low-risk obstetrics, orthopedics, neurosciences, cardiac care and cancer care. John Muir Medical Center is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), a national surveyor of quality patient care.
After six years of planning and two years of construction at a cost of $4.5 million, the John Muir Medical Center opened its doors on June 16, 1965. Just over 150 full- and part-time employees staffed the original 150-bed hospital, providing care for approximately seventy-five patients per day.
