St Josephs Medical Center Of Stockton

Reverend William B. O'Connor founded St. Joseph's Home and Hospital over a century ago. Several leading doctors joined Fr. O'Connor in realizing the need for a hospital to serve not only the growing population of Stockton but also the surrounding areas in the San Joaquin Valley. St. Joseph's formally opened on December 21, 1899 with 25 hospital beds. Over the past century, the Dominican Sisters of San Rafael have continued to sponsor the hospital.

As the population of Stockton and the surrounding towns increased, St. Joseph's grew with the community to meet the complexities and challenges of delivering quality health care with a history of firsts specializing in cardiac, respiratory, cancer and emergency services.

During the past century, St. Joseph's has grown to become the largest regional medical center in the county with 291 beds, over 400 physicians and more than 2,000 employees. St. Joseph's offers a full range of medical, surgical and diagnostic services.
