Paradise Valley Hospital

Paradise Valley Hospital was once a small 50-room building that has since grown into a 237-bed, acute care hospital providing numerous programs and services to meet the changing needs of the San Diego community. Some of its newer lifestyle programs focus on such modern-day issues as weight reduction and stress management.

In 1966 a new hospital building was completed. In March of that year, the first patient, a pregnant woman, was admitted. Within hours, the patient population doubled -- with the successful delivery of her baby.

Programs and facilities continued to be added to the Paradise Valley facility in the 1980s and 1990s, such as a 12-bed chemical dependency unit, a transitional care unit, the Premier 65 Seniors program, the Center for Health Promotion, a 10-bed pediatric wing, a 10-bed neonatal intensive care unit, a Same-day Surgery unit, an endoscopy suite, and a four-story Outpatient Pavilion.
