McConaghy Home & Carriage House |
The McConaghy Estate is a 12-room farmhouse, tank house, and carriage house. The home is furnished in the style of 1886. This site is owned by the Hayward Area Parks and Recreation District and is operated by the Hayward Area Historical Society. A major event at the museum is the McConaghy Antique Show that is held the last weekend in July with 55 dealers participating in this outdoor sale. Christmas time is special at the McConaghy Home as the house is decorated for "Christmas 1886!"
The estate is located next to Kennedy Park with a picnic area, playground, merry-go-round, and train.
The McConaghy home is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The last tour is at 3:30 p.m. The museum is closed during the month of January, major holidays (such as Easter Sunday), and Thanksgiving Week. Admission is as follows: $3 adults, $2 seniors (over 65), and $0.50 children (6-12). School and youth groups are $10 each. Special Christmas rates may apply.
