Lighthouse Point

The lighthouse that occupies Lighthouse Point was erected on Point Santa Cruz in 1869. 1941. This original lighthouse was torn down. However, a lighthouse once again stands at the point.

The lighthouse is the location of "Steamer Lane," Santa Cruz County's most famous surf spot. The lighthouse is a memorial to Mark Abbott, a surfer who drowned nearby in 1965. The lighthouse contains a surfing museum.

The lighthouse and museum is open Wednesday through Monday from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
