Rand Graduate School of Policy Studies

The mission of the School, founded in 1970, is to educate the creative thinkers and high-level problem solvers who will confront increasingly complex public issues. Each year the School enrolls 15 to 20 of the world's ablest young people to work on the world's hardest problems--with the rigor, interdisciplinarity, and flair that characterize RAND.

All fellows are fully funded based on the research they do as "on-the-job training" with senior RAND mentors. Fellows leave with a fully accredited Ph.D. in policy analysis, and they have also developed a portfolio of research experiences that ranges from preparing proposals to delivering polished briefings.

Few of the major problems facing the world in the 21st century will yield to a "unilever" approach -- leave this to the market, give that to the state. Many of the challenges defy the traditional categories of the existing institutional landscape.

The School is located in Santa Monica, Los Angeles County, CA.
