Grass Valley California

Grass Valley is located in Nevada County northeast of San Francisco between Marysville and Nevada City along Highway 20 near the Bear River and Spaulding Lake. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 9,848, an increase of 800 since 1990.

It recieved its name due to the settlers' livestock grazing here.
